What are Hard Boiled Eggs Good For?

Unless you’re vegetarian or simply cannot stomach eggs, everyone should learn how to make hard boiled eggs. Not only do they help you feel full, they are also filled with great nutrients. When eggs are mentioned, many people automatically think about protein. However, eggs also have vitamins A, B, C, D, E, K and folate; selenium, phosphorus and plenty of antioxidants. All these nutrients support your bodily systems, prevent illnesses and maintain normal functioning of vital body parts. Here are more details about hard boiled egg nutrition.

All you need to learn how to make hard boiled eggs is a pot, eggs and water. What matters most is not the cooking method, but the size of the pot, the freshness of eggs and the amount of water used.

Prepping

Before cooking eggs, you have to sort them first. To separate rotten eggs from the fresh eggs, fill a bowl with water and add a little salt. Place the eggs inside the bowl and see if they float or sink. Fresh eggs will sink towards the bottom, while decayed ones float. Older eggs might produce mixed signals. When in doubt, it is better to discard them.

If you accidentally crack an egg before boiling, consider adding a pinch of salt or teaspoon of vinegar to the water. Eggs also tend to crack when the refrigerator is too cold. If you notice cracks or crusted yolk on the outside of shells, lower the temperature of your fridge.

Another useful prepping technique is to warm up eggs with warm water. Boiling eggs straight from the fridge might cause them to crack. Eggs expand when heated and sudden changes in temperature might cause the shells to be under too much pressure.
