Deviled eggs are yummy, filling snacks that you can prepare for special occasions or when you just need a quick bite to eat. All you need to learn how to make deviled eggs are a few hard-boiled eggs and seasoning ingredients. Apart from being tasty, deviled eggs also have a high amount of nutrients. This makes them a top food choice for both kids and adults.

How to Make Deviled Eggs

Nutrients in Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs are basically hard-boiled eggs that have been cut open and stuffed with yolk and other ingredients. The primary source of nutrients, therefore, is the eggs. Eggs are known for being very filling, which can be attributed to their protein content. They are also rich sources of selenium, iron and choline. Studies show that eggs have decent amounts of vitamins A, B, D and E as well.

Effects of Deviled Eggs on Your Health

Eggs are so beneficial to health that there is even an egg diet designed for weight loss. There are few foods that can satisfy hunger like hard-boiled eggs. They are very effective appetite suppressants and only have 70-80 calories. This calorie count, however, increases when the eggs are stuffed with filling.

Traditionally, deviled egg stuffing is made using egg yolk and mayonnaise. Other ingredients can include cheese, onion, garlic, mustard and sour cream. If you want to learn how to make deviled eggs with a healthier filling, try using radishes, wasabi or salsa verde instead.

Tips on How to Make Perfect Deviled Eggs

Check the health of your eggs before boiling them. Test eggs by filling a bowl with cold water and with shells intact. If rotten, the eggs will immediately float to the top. Eggs that are old but not rotten will sink first then start bobbing up and down. Fresh eggs sink. Avoid eggs with cracks in their shells and defrost frozen eggs in lukewarm water before hard-boiling.

Nothing is as quick, filling and healthy quite like deviled eggs. Play with a range of ingredients to create new and tasty fillings. Always test your eggs for freshness and serve with vegetables and meats for a wholesome meal. You might also want more options. Here are some of my recommendations:
