Perhaps you’re on the lookout for healthier alternatives to your takeout favorites. Or, if you’re a parent with picky eaters, you’re looking for creative ways to get your kids to eat their veggies. Do any of these scenarios apply to you? If so, try this Asian chicken lettuce wrap; this may be the exact dish you’re looking for!

Low in carbs but still packed with delicious protein — this Asian Chicken Lettuce Wrap is the perfect no-rice starter or substitute for a main course! At American-Chinese restaurants like P.F. Chang’s, chicken lettuce wrap is the usual fare. Cups of lettuce are filled heartily with shredded chicken, diced veggies, and a savory, sticky sauce that makes your mouth water. Think of it like a tiny lumpia — just without the lumpia wrapper! The chicken lettuce wrap is the way to go for something both light and satisfying at the same time.

Quick and easy to make from home, this Asian chicken lettuce wrap will surely become a new favorite!

I was on the fence between this and kung pao chicken on what to make for lunch. Either is delicious. I was thinking of making both, but decided to do the latter next week. I am sure that it will turn out amazing with egg fried rice on the side.

What’s in this Asian chicken lettuce wrap?

Meat and vegetables

Savory and satisfying, this dish has CDO Homestyle Chicken Flakes in Oil as its main protein. It’s tender and tasty, with the slices so thin and flaky you won’t have to worry about tough parts! Easy to digest and enjoy, these chicken flakes make for the perfect alternative to any heavy beef or pork that you might’ve indulged in over the holiday break. Plus, their compact size makes it even easier to cook as well!

But this chicken lettuce wrap isn’t all chicken! A myriad of veggies come into play to ensure your dish is as healthy as it is hearty. For starters, you have your carrots that provide not only a dynamic texture to the dish, but make it more appealing with its bright orange color! Similarly, singkamas adds a depth of flavor that matches your chicken lettuce wrap exceptionally well. Pairing these with your green and white or red onions and you have a dish absolutely bursting with yumminess! And of course, you’re placing all of these components on a crisp and tasty lettuce leaf. This chicken lettuce wrap is proof that eating your veggies doesn’t have to be a bad thing!

Yummy, sweet and savory sauce

But it isn’t just the meat and vegetables that make this chicken lettuce wrap stand out! On top of this already yummy concoction is the addition of an absolutely umami and appetizing sauce! This mix of soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil and hoisin sauce create a seasoning that is incredibly tasty and vibrant with all of the different flavors coming to life. Some people even add peanut oil or peanut butter to give the dish a nuttier and richer flavor. Regardless, once you try your chicken lettuce wrap with it, you won’t ever want to have it without it again!

How to make Asian chicken lettuce wrap

Making your Asian chicken lettuce wrap just couldn’t be simpler! Most of your time will be dedicated to chopping up your vegetables and ensuring you have just the right size for your wraps. But the cooking process itself is incredibly easy! You’ll be stir frying your vegetables, which means cooking your dish with little oil on high heat. This quick cooking method will ensure that you get to enjoy your food in no time!

After you’ve minced and diced up your veggies, wash your lettuce with running water and peel the leaves apart. Once you’re finished, heat oil in a wok and sauté your onion for 35 seconds. Add 450 grams of CDO Homestyle Chicken Flakes in Oil. Cook your chicken flakes until you’ve let the liquid evaporate completely, after which you add your carrots and singkamas. Cook for 1 minute, then add soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, and hoisin sauce. Stir your chicken and veggies together. For additional flavor, add your green onions! Don’t forget to season with salt and ground black pepper to taste.

Transfer your chicken to a serving bowl and serve alongside your fresh lettuce. If you want, you can scoop up some of the chicken mix yourself and assemble the chicken lettuce wrap for your guests already! Regardless, your dish at this stage is ready to go! Serve it, share it, and enjoy it with your loved ones!

This new year, let’s make a toast to eating healthy — which doesn’t mean that you can’t eat deliciously, too! Let us know what you think of this Asian chicken lettuce wrap!
